Once you're done with this, you might find Tri Newbies helpful.

What if I've never done a triathlon?
We have gals with no athletic background - that's what our beginners group is for!  We start with Tri 101 - gear, workouts, the whole package.  Yes, you can do a half ironman even if you've never run around the block before now!!  That's the best part of all this : )

I'm 50 plus!  I could never "tri"!
6 of the 15 RedLadies in 2011 were 50+ and one was over 60!  It's NEVER to late to start!!

I'm thinking about a Half Ironman....but there is absolutely no way I can bike 56 miles and then run 13!
Now, now - Rome wasn't built in a day!  The reason The Reds starts so early in the year is so we can build very gradually - we start out with where you currently are whether that is a walk around the block or a 3 mile run....many of us started here and have kicked arse one step at at time : )

What if I can't make all the Reds activities?
If only the only thing we had to do in life was train!  We all have jobs, partners, families - The Reds have single moms, working moms, stay at home moms - the whole shabang.  But, we make it work.  Come to Reds activities when you can, plan to meet gals on your own when you can, and get in some training on your own.

I don't own a bike?
We can find one to borrow, a used one to buy - there are lots of bike's just waiting to be used.  We just have to find one for you ; )

Are the bike routes supported?
The official Reds bike routes are routed to include places you can stop to get food and water and use the bathroom.  This is for 2 reasons: 1) you can get items you need 2) you can ride the route on days the Reds aren't riding and still have access to supplies.  It is critical to be safe when you ride - while we ride together, a main goal of The RedLadies is that you know how to take care of yourself out on your bike.  Please help us help you do this by learning the routes and following basic safety on the bike.

Are there additional costs to the activities we do?
When we have group swims, there may be a $5-$6 (rough estimate) fee to get into the Aquatic Center that we use.  Most frequently this is at Roeland Park Aquatic Center or one of the 'open water swim' venues during the summer months.  We will have some optional events such as speakers or social events that may require payment.  For example, lazer tag or going out to eat.

What if I want some additional one-on-one help?
If you would rather have additional help outside of the weekly sessions, you can set up a coaching session for $50/hour.  Liz is more than happy to do help during the weekly sessions, however!!  It's her job :)

How did The Reds get their name?
The RedLadies (or "The Reds" ) got their name as a spin off from doing the Redman Half Ironman in Oklahoma City our first year.  We're not Redmen, we're RedLadies!!!  And we're a force to be reckoned with ; ) ....since then, the name has stuck!

Can I bring a friend?
Yes!  Of course ; )

Can I enroll anytime?
Reds officially runs January - October but you may enroll at any time and stay for as long or a little as works for you : )  Please just enroll early enough that you have time to prepare for your race injury free.

What happens during the Fall (the "off season") months?
The "off season" is as important as the "on season" so that you get a break physically and mentally.  We offer strength classes and spin sessions during the winter months - click here to find out more

I don't live in the KC area, can I still be A Red?
You bet!  We have Reds all over the place  - if you're interested send us an email ; )
