Name: Kaitlin Hager
Alter Ego: Gaia (My bike is named Renaldo)
Real Life Secret Power you’re secretly proud of (example: i am a wizard at bagging groceries ….it’s true. Grocery Tetris Master Bagger.) Don’t be shy. We all have our own special gifts.
If I know you, then I can recall an obscure fact about you on demand.
Most used motto/mantra for dealing with life:
~Shift your if ~When you choose to step into your calling, it will make room for you ~1 Peter 1:6-8. ~”On Pain” poem by Kahil Gibran. [I cannot pick just one]
What do you do for fun unrelated to triathlon (there’s life beyond triathlon?):
Teach yoga with cats, knit, walk dogs that I don’t own (Chester, Foxy, Ivan, Penelope), read The Impulsive, Buy junk food blog, explore the Enneagram, collect quotes, dance.
Spirit Animal: Dolphin
Most unfortunate place nature has called….(if you’re new to this and you’ve never pulled over roadside to answer the emergency call of nature....welcome. Soon, you too will understand how to poo undetected in your neighbor’s yard and forgo decades of socialisation to pee yourself.)
2am near a mountain lake in Sequoia National Park; luckily I had my shovel kit. This diversion led to incredible constellation views: would do again if needed. (However as a CNA, I handle ALL THE POOP-ALL THE TIME! I am a pro poop wiper. Nothing has scared me yet...)
If you were arrested with no explanation what would your family assume you had done?
“Verbally abused a police officer who had pulled me over.” …..
Main goal over the next 3 months (in addition to relentless forward progress!!): Improve bike speed to 15mph average or higher for rides and improve bike handling skills outside so not quite as terrified for the inevitable wreck. Practice transitions (a lifetime first for me.)
CV-19 Haiku Contest.
Life upset: fluid
Ironman active grieving
Sweaty tears, hope dwells
