Why the fern in our logo?   Coach Liz started her coaching career in Hawai'i & New Zealand where the cultures embrace sport as as way of life.  In New Zealand, the fern represents the uncurling of a journey - we all know getting the most out of ourselves as athletes requires a daily long-term commitment on the path to your personal best.

Team vs 1:1 Coaching
The Red's Tri Team bridges the gap between tri clubs and 1:1 coaching.  For some, clubs may not provide enough structure or accountability and 1:1 coaching is more than some athletes are looking for in their training and racing.  Reds provides structure, accountability & camaraderie to guide athletes in reaching their goals.  We work hard to keep our price point for the team accessible at $50/month.  For more info on team structure, see below.

1:1 coaching is more intense and aimed at long term athlete development.   Weekly training is structured specifically for athlete's pace, heart rate zones, bike power etc. and the training schedule is tailored to fit the athlete's life schedule.  Contact with the coach is unlimited.  Space is limited.  If interested in more information, please contact us.  Learn more about Liz here.

Team Structure
When you join, you're provided with a Training Plan for your A race (A race means the main race you're preparing for).  This training plan is provided through an online training sight where you log in to see what workouts you need to do each day to prepare for your A race (SEE EXAMPLE).  In addition, we have 2-3 coached workouts per week depending on the time of year (see schedule below).  These workouts provide a supported workout that is both fun and challenging (the group workouts are adjusted for each person depending on fitness level and race - you will never do a workout that is inappropriate for your fitness level).   We also have potlucks, happy hours, cheer squads, and anything else we can come up with that's fun : )

Cost / Registration
The cost is $50 / month.  Enrollment is rolling - the only requirement is you join with enough time to train for your race without getting injured.  There are no additional costs - the only exception to this is fees to use pools or open water lakes (shawnee mission park) - about $4 - $6.

Team Registration and Intake Forms Here

Times/Locations of Coached Group Workouts (locations vary around greater KC)
March - September: "Sutton Slammers" on the first Tuesdays of each month -  High Intensity BRICK (bike to run) workouts / locations vary, 5:45- 7 PM

Dec - March  - Indoor Spin Classes
Saturday AM at TruMove (105th and Metcalf)
Included with the cost of the team OR can be registered for separately if you'd like to attend but are not currently using the team membership.

April - September - Outdoor Rides
Saturday AM:
For safety, the Reds use organized rides around town to ride on Saturdays.  This does require registration separate from the Reds (it's not included).  Please see our facebook group to find out which rides around town we are planning on using this year.

October - February
October - Feb is the "off season" for the Reds.  Off doesn't mean we retreat to the couch eating bon bons though - this is the time we work on our weaknesses (we all got 'em!).  We offer classes during this time - athletes register for the classes that interest them.  We offer spin, swim, run, and strength options.  Please see our home page for classes currently being offered.

NOTE: Off-season classes are done via a one-time registration fee rather than a monthly $50 fee.  Example: Tuesday Strength Class = $89 for an 9 week session.  There is no monthly fee during this time unless you would like an off-season training plan (Just let Liz know if you want to continue with a plan in the off season).  Off season classes are sometimes priced slightly higher due to facility rental fees which are not an issue in the warmer months when we are outside.
